Forró accordion workshop

Trainer: Pianist and accordionist Richard Posselt specializes in Brazilian music, forro and choro. He studied in Rio de Janeiro with the best musicians in this style: Bebe Kramer, Hamilton de Holanda, Luis Barcelos, Eduardo Neves, Rogério Caetano, Luciano Maia, Marcelo Caldi... He plays with the group Zé Matuto.

Contents:
Forró is a traditional music and dance from northeastern Brazil. Master the bellows technique specific to Brazilian accordionists and this music.

Two-handed accompaniment of another melodist. Improvisation on chord grid, counterpoint or solo. Rudiments of the percussion instruments that accompany this style. Mastery of a dance repertoire.

Training focuses:-

- Passing on and sharing the taste and practice of Brazilian music, in particular Forro, a musical style born in the north-east of the country, but also the name given to the place (actually a ball) where people meet to dance.

- Discover and practice percussion instruments, essential to this music.


Audience: All ages, all levels. All instruments

Prerequisites: None


Schedule: 35 hours, from Monday 2pm to Friday after the evening concert. Welcome meeting Monday 1:30 pm

Franck Angélis" accordion workshop
with Franck Angélis

Dates: April 20 to 24, 2026

Contents: Work on pieces from the Franck Angélis repertoire under his guidance. From very accessible teaching pieces to the more virtuoso pieces that have made him famous.

Training focus: Improving technical and musical skills in playing the composer's pieces.

Trainer :
Franck Angelis is a leading contemporary accordion composer and winner of the Trophée Mondial de l'accordéon in 1981 (senior classical). He has been teaching at the Gennevilliers CRD since 1992, and holds a DE diploma.

Public: All ages, all levels

Prerequisites: none

Schedule: 8:30 pm, Monday 2 pm to Friday evening (after end-of-course concert). Welcome meeting Monday 1.30pm.

Singing workshop with Alexia Mornet MORNET

Dates: February 16 to 20, 2026

Content: Perfecting vocal skills through technical work: vocal agility, nuances, sensitivity... Interpretation of an individual song on soundtrack. Stage work to prepare you for a professional performance: posture, microphone handling, ease... Group singing to develop the practice of polyphony, harmonization, listening to others and sharing... International variety and French chanson.

Training courses
- Improve vocal technique and musicality.
- Experiment with group singing.
Trainer: Alexia Mornet is an international variety and jazz singer, nominated for "The Voice" in 2019. She is a choral conductor, backing vocalist to the stars and singer with the group Octopus.

Audience: All ages, all levels, all styles

Prerequisites: none

Schedule: 25 hours, from Monday 2:00 pm to Friday evening.

Emilie Cadiou (singer-accordionist-actor) and Antoine Errotaberea (diatonic accordion maker) offer a two-group workshop to learn how to better accompany your singing on the accordion.
The day will be followed by a lecture on the inner workings of the instrument, and a concert by their Duo LA MERCERIE. Finally, the evening will continue with an open stage for the musicians present. Information and registration in the attached documents.

The IOMA certification (Interpréter une œuvre de Musiques Actuelles) is registered with the Répertoire Spécifique (RS). It attests to the technical and artistic skills essential for working in the contemporary music industry, and enables musicians to acquire professional know-how while increasing their adaptability to various activities in the musical field. This certification is issued by the FNEIJMA (Fédération Nationale des Écoles d'influence Jazz et Musiques Actuelles), with which CNIMA has established a partnership.

Training content
Instrumental technique, instrumental and vocal sight-reading, solfeggio, repetition, harmony, accompaniment, improvisation, musical culture, repertoire, computer-assisted music, concerts, legal and social environment, hearing and physical prevention.


Trainee profile: Musicians in the process of professionalization, wishing to obtain professional certification.

Prerequisites:
Entrance exam on Monday, June 23, 2025
Trainees with BEM (Brevet d'Etudes Musicale) conservatory diploma: automatic admission. Trainees without diploma: entrance exam based on instrumental and solfeggio assessment. If unsuccessful, trainees may take one or two years of "la préparatoire" (see information below).

Trainer: Richard Posselt is a pianist accordionist. For several years he has specialized in Brazilian music first with forro, then chorro. He went to study in Rio de Janeiro with some of the best current players in the genre: Bebe Kramer, Hamilton de Holanda, Luis Barcelos, Eduardo Neves, Rogério Caetano, Luciano Maia, Marcelo Caldi... He teaches in Jazz Action Valence, and gives workshops at "The Laborieux Du Dépliant", a non profit organization he funded.

Audience: All ages, all levels

Content: Forró is a traditional music and dance from the North Eastern part of Brazil. Forro instruments are the triangle, the accordion and the zabumba (big flat drum) and sometimes also the pandeiro (kind of a drum). Most of the time, the musicians also sing. Dominguinhos, Jackson do Pandeiro, Genival Lacerda, and Luiz Gonzaga are among the most well known forro musicians. In the workshop we will study different rhythms (Xote, baião, Xaxado, Arrasta-pé... ) on accordion of course but also on percussion. A fun and very concrete way to understand and play this music.

Hommage à Claude Thomain" accordion orchestra workshop
with Aline Lacourt

Dates: August 11 to 15, 2025

Content: Development of a concert program based on the works of Claude Thomain, a French composer, conductor and accordionist renowned for his rich, accessible works "Notes Vagabondes", "À Joss", "Deux Phares dans la Nuit" ... In-depth work on orchestral playing under the direction of a conductor. Claude Thomain, who passed away in 2023 at the age of 76, was a great friend of CNIMA, where he led numerous courses.

Trainer: Aline Lacour is an accordionist, conductor and music education teacher. Trained on piano and accordion since childhood, she studied with Claude Thomain and perfected her skills at the CNIMA, where she competed in major international accordion competitions. Holder of a DEM in accordion and the CAPES, she combines artistic practice, teaching and conducting with high standards and sensitivity.

Audience: accordion players with good reading skills

Prerequisites:
- Each trainee will have to produce and transmit a video of a piece performed, so that the conductor can, in advance of the course, allocate voices and musical parts according to each person's abilities."
- Have studied and prepared the musical parts transmitted by the conductor before the start of the course.

Schedule: 22 hours

Monday 2:00 pm to Friday 5:00 pm
