Hello, I've been playing for 4 years now, and I still can't manage to play fast, fast, to make the sixteenth notes etc. ....

How to proceed to play notes in cascade?

Is there a learning method?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Sincerely
Accordeon49

hi
and I think it's actually 20 times
This quote from the French poet, writer and critic Nicolas Boileau means that it is in the things that we have worked and reworked tirelessly that we can shine and excel.
a bit like running, at the beginning we run slowly and over small distances, and with training we lengthen the distances and the pace.
speed, in the practice of an instrument, comes with work, provided, of course, that you have done some preliminary "ergonomic" work on the position of the body, the hands, breathing, and yes, the study of fingerings (having fingers that cross each other never speeds up the movement) and in this area the advice of a teacher can be essential.
a serious study of the fingerings, calmly, at a slow speed, will be a basis of work, it will be enough to accelerate progressively, at one's own rhythm, to obtain the desired tempo.
good luck

Hello,I am also in my 4th year, and I am starting to play faster and faster...It's all about fingering, and I spend a lot of time finding a fingering that fits me and that will allow me to speed up.That said, after that, it's all a question of time and patience, and I know that I also need to work on the scales! Which I don't necessarily do! So I resign myself, better to play correctly slowly than to swallow half of the notes at high speed...Well, that's my opinion! Patience and obstinacy will undoubtedly give a result one day, I hope!

Hello Accordeon49,

Everything is said, only work pays.
Have a good method, do regular exercises, the fingering is indicated; work slowly at first and as you go along you will go faster; work 10 times each triplet and you will see.

And why not take a few lessons to improve your technique, it's the most beneficial.

Good luck and you will tell us if you progress.

HelloI think all the advice is given to youwork slowly (which in general we tend to forget to do), as soon as you have difficulties on a passage, take it again several times slowly.Work and patience always pays.

Thank you very much for these advices, indeed I have to work on my scales, would there be these scales or triplets on scores on the site?

As for the advanced lessons, I am actively looking for a teacher, but in the region, apparently, it is not so easy to find.

30 mns of lessons and I have to drive at least 1 hour there and back and I have to find the right time slot, so working at home on pre-established exercises would suit me better.
In the meantime, I thank you.

Hello accordion49,

there is only one thing to play well first and quickly afterwards, it is the work and the time spent, x times the score the rest will be done with time.

44 years of accordion so you have time.

Hello Accordeon49,

A good method to make you work well (these 4 methods are the most used by the teachers).

Method of CHROMATIC ACCORDEON

Editions HOHNER

by Médard FERRERO

22nd edition revised and expanded

YELLOW color

This method should suit you

Don't take the BLUE (1st year), the PURPLE (superior), the ORANGE (virtuosity). That will be for later ....

Good luck and good music.

I thank you for your help, it's a pleasure.
I have good news, I have found a teacher, I will meet him next Friday, I can't wait but I will follow the methods that you advise me.

See you soon and have a good evening

Hello Accordéon 49,

You have found a teacher, that's great. You tell us "that does not prevent me from following the methods that you advise me" it is also good but do it in consultation with your teacher, that will perhaps avoid you to "burn" stages which can be harmful thereafter.
And don't try to "play fast", start by "playing well" then Start by "playing well", then you will enjoy yourself with virtuoso pieces.
But to attack the repertoire of Marcel Azzola or Yvette Horner, either you have to be very patient or you have to get extra fingers...
Good luck for the rest.

Good evening.
Thanks Dany14, that's the solution!!!!! To have extra fingers transplanted.
To become serious again, and I can do it, there is no secret. The more you practice your instrument, the faster you can play. Even if one day you become a virtuoso without realizing it.
I don't know how old you are, accordion 49, but above all, if you can, never stop.
When I was 15, I played "la migliavacca", "tonnerre de musette" with triplets and many others. I stopped for 35 years and today, at 60 years old, I try miserably to pass some measures. On the other hand, I notice at each session a small improvement and I even manage today to play "the return of the swallows".
Moral, play a lot, as much as possible!!!!
Kind regards.

For the record, I'm 44 years old, yes I understand, I have to play more and more but not in any way!

I've taken up the ferrero method which I never opened by the way! I'm going to review it from the beginning and measure it! boudiou, we're going to get there!

I think the Ferrero method plus a teacher and off you go!!!
You will succeed since you seem passionate about it.
Good job.

Hello,

I will say even more: play fast and WELL.for that there is an essential tool which is the metronome.for a difficult passage without metronome one tends to slow down a little without realizing it whereas the metronome .....
Another thing, more boring, is the solfeggio but it is an obligatory passage to sight-read.
Since I'm retired I've taken up the Ferrero virtuosity method again and I bought an electronic metronome, the old mechanical one being wobbly.
So at least one hour of method per day before attacking the pieces that we like.
As an option, solving a page of exercises helps to work on sight-reading.

Good luck.

Hi Dan 95,

Indeed, I think you are right, metronome and music reading are good keys.

Hello accordion49,
I see that there has been a lot of advice and encouragement!
And we realize that the relevant advice comes back again and again!
Play slowly, play a piece slower than what is written but play it well.
The most difficult thing to control is the regularity of the notes, it is not very obvious that one is playing irregularly.
I learned a lot from my teacher Tony Fallone (deceased) who accompanied me on guitar or drums to keep the measure but I still have a little trouble!
The Ferrero method is one of the best that exists (Tony Fallone made me work with this method). I had a version with the old fingering!
I had a version with the old fingering, I have retyped the new fingering (1,2,3,4,5 instead of P,1,2,3,4) with a red pen! same for the left hand.
Good luck
