From memory if you read the midi file with Melody players you have the score in clear with several instruments according to your file, and then you can recover your way according to your instrument. And you can transpose with this software which is not too complex.

There is also free KARABOSS which is made especially for MID KAR to tinker with and MuseScore displays beautiful scores with MID KAR
